about

A long relationship of education and performance began 30 years ago when Rob aattened inspirational jazz classes conducted by TOny Gould. These classes were not only instructional and enriching but represented the beginning of a true friendship between the two musicians.

Tony & Rob commenced regularly performing together, as both a duo and a quarter (with Tony Floyd & Nick Haywood) 15 years ago through this period have performed at many jazz festivals in Australia and abroad.

Tony & Rob first recorded together in the duo format in 1996 when they released the CD - Gateway and again in 1999 with the release of 'A Tin Roof For The Rain'.

Only time can create this foundation of professional nurturing. The development of skills and sounds and in interactive understanding of each other's skill.

As an ensemble the blend & flexibility of ideas are the main objectives. The compositions are treated as a resource that can be adhered to but is not always the rule.

Some of the compositions are mostly improvised. We have used a theme, which is the title composition, 'Here', to link the improvisations together giving continuity to the CD.

This Cd is a result of two people who have spent much time debating technical aspects, styles & musical concepts. Their directive for the listener of this CD is to hear beauty of sound. Be musically challenged & to understand that every note has it's own reason for existing.
